Free-run: this is the device clock. Jam the camera to time of day and match it by eye. Or go frame-accurate: feed SMPTE LTC from any timecode box or a camera's TC OUT into this device's audio input (headphone-adapter or USB-C cable, attenuated) and tap JAM. SmartLog decodes the timecode and locks its clock to it. Every NOW stamp then matches the set's TC.
One up-to-date log for the whole camera team, kept in your own Google Drive. Everyone connects the same account and every device pulls new takes in and adds its own. No account with us, no server of ours: your cloud, your crew.
Import a log from the 3DFilmParts Digital Slate or any compatible camera-report CSV / JSON. Scene, take, timecode and stills merge into this log; your lens, filter and ISO notes are kept.
CSV carries the full merged log (slate columns + camera notes) and opens in any spreadsheet. JSON is SmartLog's own backup/interchange format. Silverstack CSV imports straight into Pomfort Silverstack: use the Import menu's CSV log option, match clips by clip number or timecode + camera, and every take's scene/take/circled/notes/lens data lands on the right clips. Offline copy downloads the whole app as one file. Keep it in Files or on a laptop and open it with no internet and no account, forever. Your takes stay in whichever browser you log them in.
SmartLog is free for everyone: no account, no subscription, no paywall, ever. It's a complete, standalone logging tool: takes, camera reports, PDF and CSV export, all right here on your phone, offline, with your data staying on this device. Made by 3DFilmParts, the makers of a 3D-printed digital clapper board currently in its testing phase. Future updates will add full pairing with the physical product, so the log writes itself on set. Scales the whole interface. Nudge it up on iPad or if things feel squinty.
Auto reads the screen and touch. Override it if this device behaves like the wrong one: the choice sets the text size, whether the big on-set keypads open, and whether reports print or save as PDF.
UK / EU / AUS crews index takes by slate number, US crews by scene. UK mode adds a dedicated slate # box with scene and shot alongside, and reorders the take form, the log and the reports. Same data captured either way.
Scales the Distance slider on the take form. First run picks from your region (US, UK and Canadian camera crews mark focus in feet; most others in meters). Typed distances keep whatever notation you write: 8'6" and 2.6m both land on the bar.
Sets the Shutter slider and its presets on the take form to cine angles or shutter speeds, whichever your camera reads in. The log and the reports carry exactly what you enter, so switching never rewrites a saved take.
Two or more cameras puts one-tap A / B / C buttons under the Camera field on every take, and each camera gets its own model in the camera + glass card below. The camera and roll here only seed the very first take: after that, each camera remembers its own roll and clip from its last take, and switching the camera on a new take brings its own card back.
The ISOs this camera is rated native at, off its spec sheet: 800, or 800, 3200 for a dual base sensor. They lead the take form's ISO chips in gold and mark the ISO slider, and the form confirms NATIVE whenever a take sits on one.
Type your own glass by name and save it. Your sets sit at the top of the lens set list, ready for the next job.
Your own gear belongs here: a Ronin, a hot head, a bespoke rig, whatever this job actually carries. These become the chips on the take form.
Saves this body, format, codec, native ISOs and the lens, filter and equipment kits under a name you choose, with a colour. Keep as many as you like: my VENICE, the B cam, doco kit. Recall any of them onto any camera letter from the camera dropdown above, on any job. They go into your backup file with everything else.
Kits become one-tap chips on the take form. Pick your glass once, whether that is Master Primes, Cookes and Supremes off the list or your own rehoused Kowas typed in by name, and never type a lens on set. Filter sets stack: NDs, Pola, Black Pro-Mist, Glimmerglass and friends.
A new take starts from your last one on that camera. Carried values show dimmed until you touch them. Take number, timecode, notes and marks never carry.
Reorder with the arrows or by dragging, tap to hide. This order is the order on the take form, in the log, in the PDF and in the CSV. Hiding never deletes anything already logged: a hidden field keeps its data and comes straight back when you show it again.
Off means the two devices must be on the same WiFi or hotspot. On means they can find each other across networks. Either way your log travels directly between the two devices.
